Be thankful you've got the net

Eleven years ago, sad to say, I lost my freshman year of college to Usenet, Magic: the Gathering, and a little Mosaic. Thinking along similar timelines, and spurred by their new box set, I've been listening to a lot of Nirvana lately, which always reminds me of the post, "Cobain-bashers have tiny dicks."

At the time, I wrote the author and thanked her for it, and in response, got the best advice I could have gotten at 18:

Don't sweat humanity. Just be thankful you've got the .net, where you can observe 'em like bugs under a glass or in an ant farm, where they can't do you any real harm.....
