Black as midnight on a moonless night

Two weeks ago, I made a conscious effort to acquire the taste for black coffee. So of course, now scientists find coffee really is addictive.

Update 10/6: In "Starbucks vs. Its Addicts," Slate references the above article in a pop-economic suggestion that Starbucks was able to recently raise prices on its already-expensive coffee because of its unusually-high caffeine content. (The article also references a caffeine content chart that has more brand-specific info than the one mentioned here previously.)

House of Pies topped the list for diner-grade coffee during my brief coffee flirtation. I gave java up again after reading the article—I'm trying to minimize my dependencies.
