Interpol's new album and space

Interpol's new album, Antics (due out Sept 28), is great. I was always a bit torn about Turn On the Bright Lights because although it was really good, it was a little too derivative of Joy Division, although that's better than being derivative of something that sucks. The new album defines their own sound more directly, and it's just brilliant.

Interpol seven-inch vinyl They're also doing a very cool thing in which they're renting gallery space in five cities (including Subliminal Projects here in LA) and showing showing short films and selling exclusive merchandise. Over the course of the next two weeks, they're releasing the album as a set of five 7" vinyl discs and a slip case, with each two-song disc being available on a different day. I've already downloaded the album, but since I like it so much and wanted to buy it anyway, I'd rather pony up for this cool shit than get an essentially useless and redundant CD. There is also a very cool set of posters of the band.
