A Spatial Thesaurus

The Plumb Design Visual Thesaurus
The first really cool thing I've seen done with Java: "...an exploration of sense relationships within the English language. By clicking on words, you follow a thread of meaning, creating a spatial map of linguistic associations." You can either click on one of the words presented or type a word in the text field at the bottom. Be sure to try the 3D setting in the lower-right-hand corner.
